DESCRIPTION:Beginner Rope: Monkeying Around with Sebastian Rojas \n\n\n\nCurious about rope but never had the chance to explore? Come and learn beats\, various sequences\, tension locks\, and dynamic movement accessible to beginner students. This is a 90-minute workshop.  \n\n\n\nPrerequisites: Ability to climb to the top\, no current shoulder injury. \n\n\n\nAbout Sebastian: \n\n\n\nSebastian is one of the founders and co-owner of Celeste Aerial Arts located in Detroit\, Michigan. He started off as a martial artist in 2003 and began teaching after he obtained his black belt in 2008. Martial arts has given him an understanding of the body and awareness that easily translated to aerials. \n\n\n\nHe found his passion for rope and straps and developed his own teaching style based on dynamic movement and technique. His goal has been to bring both of these apparatuses into the spotlight in the Detroit area.

DESCRIPTION:Aerial Straps Intensive with Sebastian Rojas \n\n\n\nMarch 9th 4:30pm-7pm & March 10th 2pm-4:30pm \n\n\n\nA multi-day straps extravaganza! Join Sebastian for a deep dive into technique\, sequences\, and tricks. Students will work on long-term skills such as switches\, one-arm inversions\, dynamic swinging skills\, and roll-ups\, including learning how to train and progress toward them effectively and safely. We’ll also have fun with some Sebastian-original straps choreography and movement quality. SUMMARY:Lyra Workshops with Mykelle Walton
DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to welcome Mykelle Walton to Sora in March for two great Lyra workshops! 🤩🎪 \n\n\n\n✨Flair for Hoop✨March 17th\, 11am-12pm\, $50 \n\n\n\nOne of the most important factors in spinning aerial is how to control it. In this 60 minute workshop you will learn different types of spins and how to center your spin in yourself and with your apparatus. We will go through the flair progression and different ways to start and control your spin\, and get a detailed look at using spin to lift your body into the air with flairs. \n\n\n\nPrerequisites: Students must have a one arm hold for 20 seconds and be comfortable spinning for up to an hour (with breaks of course). INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED \n\n\n\n✨Finding the Centre✨March 17th\, 12:15pm-1:45pm\, $65 \n\n\n\nThis 90 minute workshop will go beyond the beginning poses of hoop and transition into thinking about how we balance our bodies within the hoop itself. We will be introduced to concepts such as falling to rise\, centre of mass\, and finding balance in kinesthetic ways. Exploration of twisty combinations is an option in this workshop. \n\n\n\nPrerequisites: Must be able to invert from hang into double knee hang (hocks hang) on the hoop. BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE \n\n\n\n✨About Mykelle: \n\n\n\nMykelle is a circus artist with a background in high level gymnastics and modern dance. She uses movement arts to share a narrative experience. Creatively\, her work follows two distinct lines: (1) producing one-of-a-kind shows that use devised theatre and idea-centered thinking to create circus events and (2) She is infinitely curious about pushing the physical boundaries of what the human body can do – combining it with the strength\, grace\, and artistry of contemporary aerial arts to create complex work. \n\n\n\nThis work draws implicit parallels between the human experience\, philosophy\, and physics while layering ideals of the emotional journey\, critical theory and aerodynamics. \n\n\n\nMykelle currently resides in the forests of Massachusetts with her wife and their two cats.
